“Hopes and Dreams” gives the reader a glimpse of what life is like for the Orphan Kids of Kakamega.  Letters from sponsored students are full of gratitude for the gift of education. Messages like “I will never let you down” and “without CES assisting me I could never lift myself out of the black hole I was in” are typical of Kenyan youth who just want to say thanks.

“Hopes and Dreams” also provides a heartfelt desire for a future that will be free of poverty and unemployment.  Students describe what they want to become…teachers, nurses, business people…the list goes on.  What is remarkable however, is the fact that each student wants to help someone else – just like they have been helped.

“Hopes and Dreams” is all about saying thanks, dreaming of what can be and sharing the hope that only comes through education.

  • These children are the poorest of the poor-they have seen their parents and siblings die, they have no family and no history. They struggle to exist one day to another.
