Notes:
Ibinzo SS for Girls is located 30 minutes drive west of Kakamega. The grounds are kept beautifully and surrounding the central square are colourful shrubs and flowers. The Kenyan flag is centre to all classrooms. Ibinzo is also a residential school. The advantage is the school provides a home and shelter to those of our students with no place to go to after school. A number of CES sponsored students do not have a family or a place to sleep at night.
The Parry Sound/Muskoka chapter of CES Canada has supported Ibinzo SS through a unique organization known as Rosseau Active Women (RAW). Since 2010 this group has raised funds to support five students. In June 2011 a group of Canadian students at AY Jackson SS in Ottawa coordinated a run for charity. The students wanted to do something especially for girls in Kenya. The result was funding for three students as well as upgrading a Science lab.
Ibinzo SS is known for its caring staff and counseling services. It requires a number of upgrades in infrastructure as well as a library and computer facilities.
