Notes:
St. Caroli Lwanga Lutaso SS is located in Lurambi District approximately two hours drive north from Kakamega. There are numerous rural roads and small bridges to cross before arriving at this beautiful location. Located on a height of land it is possible to see vistas for 30 km around. Geological forces have placed huge boulders in this area. The school itself is well built and a number of projects including a science lab were established before CES Kenya’s involvement.
One unique fact is that parents barter their services so that their children can attend school. This is a true community school where the village is actively engaged. Villagers bring wood for cooking and carry bricks for building to save a shilling. Bags of grain are also stored at the school for villagers to use when required.
St. Caroli Lwanga Lutaso SS has ten students sponsored through the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board in Ontario Canada. Summer School students have sponsored St. Caroli school for the past three years through their generous donations and heart for their Kenyan peers. They responded to an appeal to support students orphaned by the HIV/Aids pandemic.
