A “thank you” from a nurse in training

Dorothy Barasa is a CES-sponsored student, recently completed her Bachelor of Nursing degree at Kirinyaga University in Kenya. Here is a thank-you letter received by CES Kenya.

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support and generosity you provided me with, throughout my high school journey. Your sponsorship played a pivotal role in shaping my academic and personal growth, and I am deeply appreciative of the opportunities you have given me.

The financial assistance you extended ensured that I could focus entirely on my education without the burden of financial constraints.

More than just funding my education, the leadership training program CES offered was instrumental in equipping me with essential life skills, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose. The training sessions helped me develop leadership qualities; I have served as an organising secretary for Kirinyaga University Red Cross club and a mentor to high school students in Murang'a under the Equity Bank Alumni Association. The leadership roots continue to guide me in my personal and professional endeavors as I step into the job field.

Additionally, the laptop you provided was a transformative tool in my studies. It enabled me to access educational resources, complete assignments efficiently, and gain essential digital literacy skills. This support gave me a competitive edge in my learning journey and prepared me for the ever-evolving technological landscape in higher education and beyond.

I am delighted to share that I successfully completed my studies, Bachelors of Science Nursing in December 2024, and formally invite you to my graduation which is scheduled to occur in October 2025, at the Kirinyaga University grounds. This milestone would not have been possible without your support, and I am incredibly grateful for the role you played in my academic journey.

Your kindness and commitment to uplifting students like me have left an indelible mark on my life. Because of your support, I have been able to pursue my dreams with determination and resilience. I am proud to be a CES alumna, and I hope to one day give back to the community in the same way that you have positively impacted my life.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and belief in my potential. I will forever be grateful for the opportunities you provided, and I carry forward the values instilled in me through your program.

With sincere appreciation,

Dorothy Andaty Barasa
